# Markets & Events

Understanding the fundamental building blocks of Uniocean — assets, durations, and market types.

![Core Concepts](https://2863428870-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F80Mih2wy0x6vMgmpFKdI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-4de7ee6af622ffb5c4126c481ad10d346d7fc218%2Fdoc-card-02-core-concepts.png?alt=media)

A market is a forecasting challenge for a specific asset and time window. Users submit a precise price forecast before the market locks, and at settlement, the oracle price determines rankings.

{% hint style="info" %}
Events may follow a regular cadence or use a non-regular schedule, duration, or asset combination for a campaign or special format. “Non-regular” describes how the event is configured; ranking and settlement remain deterministic and verifiable.

## Entry Fee

Every forecast requires the entry fee published for that event, typically **10 USDT/USDC**. The event may also publish a total forecast limit and a per-user forecast limit. A user can submit at most **100 forecasts** per event, and an event may set a lower limit.

The event fee can vary by market. Events may use their own fee from **3% up to 10%**, with **10%** as the maximum. The fee published with the event is used when calculating the reward pool and settlement results.

{% hint style="info" %}
Check the event page for the applicable entry fee, event fee, total forecast capacity, per-user limit, and remaining capacity before submitting.
{% endhint %}

All entry fees form the **reward pool**. That pool is distributed entirely to rewarded forecasters according to the event's published reward configuration.

For many public markets, the rewarded set is around **51%**, but the exact share is event-configured and published with the market.

## Event Reward Configurations

Uniocean events can publish different UCPRA (Uniocean Community Price Reward Algorithm) configurations while remaining deterministic and fully verifiable.

The same algorithm supports different event configurations, including dynamic entry counts, entry fees, winner coverage, Ranker counts, bucket shapes, and other published payout parameters. It is not limited to one fixed market size or one fixed entry fee.

The standard public configuration used across the platform is:

| Configuration | Typical Use | Typical Winner Coverage | Typical Character |
| --------------------- | ----------------------------------- | ----------------------: | -------------------------------------------- |
| **Regular / Public**  | Standard public markets             |                 **51%** | Smaller winner set with a 2% Ranker tier     |
| **Mass Distribution** | Long-form or broad-coverage markets |                 **70%** | Broader winner set with a 1% bucket gradient |

### Custom Configured Events

Other events may publish custom reward settings. The Mass Distribution preset rewards **70%** of forecasts; its gradient is **1%**, matching Regular / Public. Always use the event's published settings for the exact payout configuration.

Each event publishes the reward shape that determines how many people are rewarded and how payouts are distributed across the winning ranks.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Before participating, review the event's published reward configuration in the market summary or rules section. That published configuration is the source of truth for how rewards will be distributed.
{% endhint %}

## Rules

Each market includes a dedicated **Rules** section on its event page. Review it before participating so you understand the timeline, settlement source, and ranking logic for that specific market.

### Participation

* Each forecast requires its own entry fee
* Events may limit the total number of forecasts and the number submitted by each user; the per-user limit is at most **100 forecasts**
* Each submitted forecast is ranked independently
* Once confirmed on-chain, a forecast cannot be modified, cancelled, or refunded

### Timeline

Every market shows three key timestamps in its Rules section:

* **Entry opens** — when forecasts begin
* **Entries lock** — when the live submission window closes
* **Settlement** — the exact time the final oracle price is read

### Settlement Source

Production markets currently use the **Pyth Network** adaptor at the market's exact scheduled settlement time. Paper-trading events use Uniocean's on-chain oracle adaptor. The accepted final price used for resolution is recorded on-chain and cannot be changed retroactively.

For certain asset classes such as **metals** and **forex**, price availability may follow active trading hours. If settlement falls outside the feed's active trading window, the most recent available oracle price may be used.

### Ranking & Tie-Breaking

Forecasts are ranked by **absolute distance** from the settlement price. The closer the forecast, the higher the rank.

If two forecasts are equally close, tie-breaking is resolved in this order:

1. Earlier submission timestamp
2. Earlier block number
3. Lower log index within the block

All tie-breaking inputs are recorded on-chain, making the ranking process deterministic and publicly verifiable.

{% hint style="info" %}
On every market page, the **Rules** section may also include direct resolution-source links and audit-report access where applicable.
{% endhint %}
